There is nothing to warrant the kind of attack I was subjected to in the response below. I raised legitimate concerns in my question, I am brand new to this support platform and it is not easy to figure out, and yes there is a big button at the bottom of the email that says "Mark it as Solved". I am not a moron as Mr. David is suggesting, and I have spent considerable time trying to figure out how to reply in a thread to no avail. If this is how you treat new users of TB, this is the beginning of the end of this software because users will not tolerate this kind of abuse. Shameful. So I still have no idea how to reply in a thread, and now I am beyond discouraged wondering what I have gotten myself into. Great way to welcome newcomers.

From David "I do not know why you cannot respond to posts here. An email is sent on each post and there is a large button at bottom, Post a Reply. People who work on this forum are all volunteers. We are not the developers and have no voice in the code being generated. We volunteer our time to assist users where possible with their problems. Yet, somehow you feel you are being insulted. Regarding your question, I use Win 11 and do not see a Start-Programs list, so cannot assist in that. "

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

I've only interacted with notification emails to launch my question in a browser and return to support.mozilla.org; didn't realize I could shortcut that with email until mentioned here.

It's my understanding that this site doesn't use threaded conversations that are prevalent on the web, instead acting as a stew pot that blurs one-on-one conversation. The only direct-reply-related tools I see are the "Helpful?" thumb ups and downs, "I have this problem too" under the original question, and a "solved" button beneath every reply of an open question that vanishes if "solved" has already been selected. Other than those I use the box at the bottom of the question page that adds to the stew.

I'm typing this reply in a box at the very bottom of the question page, boldfaced Post a Reply with some basic formatting icons. The box is available in my own questions as well as in others, even after marked solved, but it disappears when a comment is archived, archiving indicated by a wide blue bar at the top above the question.

You can start by being polite. In your original post, you were critical of the response you received, complained you did not know how to respond, and then indicated that you were not being properly respected. Just ask your questions, wait for a volunteer to respond, and then see if that approach works. Politeness and respect go both ways.

I am not open season for this kind of abuse and I insist that all emails from this person named David be discontinued at once. Nothing in my communications warrants these condescending remarks, and yet the abuse continues. Being a volunteer, if that is indeed the case does not give someone license to be disrespectful, and now it is clear to me that this person is completely oblivious to his own use of condescending comments, tone and behavior. If this kind of thing is allowed to continue, the future of TB is in serious trouble.

Thank you very much SkyHook for that fine response. Very much appreciated. I discovered the 'Post a Repl' box at the bottom of the "Question page" yesterday. I will close this as solved now.
