Every few years I evaluate Thunderbird and this time I am really impressed with the advancement. Kudos to all of the coders & beta testers. Not that my opinion matters to anyone but if Thunderbird natively supported (without add-ons) the ability to sync with googles contacts & calendar I would probably start using it as my e-mail client.

In Address Book, File/New/CardDAV Address Book...enter the gmail address...Contacts autodetected...enter the account password in the OAuth window (cookies must be accepted in TB Preferences for OAuth to function).
