I use the calendar to keep track of business and private appointments. Not only do I set up these appointments for my own calendar, but often, I add other invitees. The email addresses of the invitees exist in my address book. Sometimes, I have to type in the email address manually. Others work fine.

Today, I realized what the reasons might be: when editing the invitees, the first line shows your own email address. Add a 2nd person (which is in your address book), and Thunderbird will auto-complete the 2nd person's email address.

Now add a 3rd person (which is also in your address book). Observe that this time, the email will not be auto-completed by the existing entry in the address book.

It works here with a Google calendar added directly as a CalDAV calendar, with no add-on. Maybe this is due to the TBSync/Provider add-ons, or another add-on that interferes with the autocomplete process. Who is the calendar provider? Perhaps it can be synced without add-ons.

Thank you. That's not a solution in my case.

However, my contacts and calendars don't reside on Google. All data lie on posteo.de, with which the listed add-ons are required. The problem exists already quite some time and did not start to happen with the latest Thunderbird. I just happen to find an explanation for that issue today.

Are Thunderbird developers reading this thread or do I file a (suspected) issue somplace else? If so, where?

Thank you :)

Thunderbird developers may be reading this thread, but they most likely are not. If you suspect that this is a bug, please file a bug (and check for an existing bug before doing so) at Thunderbird Bugzilla page

Try adding the calendar as CalDAV: File/New/Calendar, On the Network, then use the URL from here:

https://posteo.de/en/help/how-do-i-set-up-synchronisation-of-calendar-entries-from-other-calendars-in-other-programs-or-devices

For the contacts, in Address Book, File/New/CardDAV Address Book, then follow these instructions:
