Thunderbird 91.1.1 woes
Can't login to the IMAP server, mail.optonline.net anymore. Also, my Inbox has disappeared. How can I reinstall Thunderbird from scratch without losing all my imported mail which is vital to me? I'm not a programmer so this way over my head. Just need a mail client that skips all the bells and whistles and just works. Thanks!

How about forgetting the install option, that is unless you really want nothing to happen as it changes nothing about account settings or message store's.
So you updated Thunderbird and I am guessing your IMAP account removed all of it's emails from the inbox folder is that correct. If it is then everything is working correctly, IMAP mail disappears if it can not be synchronized to the server.
So now we are back to the real issue, you can not login. But why? What is the exact error message you see. That will almost certainly contain a clue and more information that we have now.
my guess is you have an anti virus program that is blocking the connection attempts of Thunderbird. Perhaps try using windows safe mode with networking and see if that allows you to connect. See here for Micrisift's instructions on how to restart windows 10 in safe mode

Thanks. All fixed now. Wasn't the antivirus. Problem was that there are so many options to go through in the settings that I misconfigured one or two. My bad! Thanks, again.
