I would like to say this is an isolated issue. but its over 2000 F-ing times since August 2020

Before you give me some other solution. here is what I have done. 1. reset training data. over 20x every M-F since August 2020. literally hundreds of times if not thousands. 2. made multiple filters to run BEFORE junk controls. < this does not a fucqing thing. works on anyones email address BUT MY KIDS TEACHERS. ONE SINGLE EMAIL ADDRESS. 3. deleted all mail filters. Made only one. still nothing. Here is the bullsh1T though. IF i run the mail filters on the JUNK folder, it will move it to the correct folder. so again WTF. why cant the filter running before Junk controls do it. 4. I have, over 2000 times on individual emails from this one address, clicked on them in the junk folder and marked them "NOT JUNK" < WTF? how many times does it take. 3000? 5000? I just need to know 5. Because I am soooooooooooooooooooooo fing tired. this week, I started over 100%. I blanked my ssd harddrive to military/gov standards. I reinstalled windows from scratch. I installed thunderbird as the very first application. made (1) filter for my kids teachers email, downloaded email AND IT PUT THEM IN THE FUCQING JUNK FOLDER

Now please tell me WTF is going on. This has created issues for me where I have missed parent/teacher conferences. My kid failed a class because I didnt know they had not turned in there semester portfolio and the teacher had asked me over and over to bring it in but thunderbird just has decided this one email address is JUNK no matter WTF I do. I am not new to thunderbird. I have been using this program since it was part of NETSCAPE. Back to the 4.X days of Netscape. Pre Mozilla.

Some settings to check: Is that particular email address in one of your address books ? If no, then put the contact into address book. In the Account Settings > Junk Settings for the account: Is that address book selected as a white list ?...aka 'Do not automatically mark mail as junk if sender is in:' If no then select checkbox for that address book.

Is the account a pop or imap mail account ? If imap, then the server could be setting that email address as junk and moving it to junk, then when folders synchronise you auto see it in junk. The filters only run on emails that are in the Inbox, so if server set it as junk then the filters never get to run on it. Hence why it would work when manually run on Junk. Logon to webmail account and see if you can check the spam/junk settings.

If pop or imap and email is still in Inbox and a server setting a 'Spam' flag, do you have settings in Thunderbird to auto move any 'spam' flagged emails automatically into Junk. This is set here: In the Account Settings > Junk Settings for the account: Is the checkbox selected for 'Trust junk mail headers set by eg: SpamAssassin or another ? Uncheck the checkbox.

You can check the email source code headers to see the spf and/or spam score. Select email so it shows in Message Pane click on 'More' and select 'View Source'

Hello

I have had these types of problems too but you never actually say that you have been onto the email server (Outlook etc.) or looked at your emails on the server of your ISP

I suspect that it is not TB that is putting them there but your email service.

In which case I think the approach to solve it would be slightly different (telling TB filters to move it from junk to reception)

i have responded 4X to this chain with updates and none of them appear.

more options

so I can type a new response, but I cant copy someone's suggestions from above and then type my responses to their response in-line and bolded. It lets me do it, then review my post (it appears as I want it), then I submit and ALL 4 never appear. Anyway. Since your tools suck as bad as the actual application, I will hand re-type everything. what a waste of time.

Toad-Hall. Everything you suggested was already there. Its a pop account. I deleted the address book entirely and readded just this one address anyway to the whitelist where it already was.

SafeTex: I am the domain host and my own email provider since 1998. There are no imap functions nor server side filtering.

2 more emails came in today. right to the Junk folder. I get about 10 emails a day from her school. today, 8 go into the right folder, the 2 from her teachers email addres, straight to Junk. I would think that after marking about 2000 emails from her teacher as NOT JUNK , it would EVENTUALLY not happen.

MAKE THIS STOP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

more options

also, if I run the JUNK controls on the school folder it never moves the teachers emails back to Junk which even makes less sense.

more options

another odd thing. if I run the filters on the junk folder, it moves the emails to the right folder even though the filters are all set to run prior to Junk controls

more options

Is the filter that you created to move teachers email address emails to X folder placed at the top of the filter list? If no place at top of list.

Please post an image of that filter so we can see the contents of filter.

Her unique filter is at the top of the list for her specific address and I created a 2nd filter (#2 in the list) for the schools domain using "contains" as a wildcard. in the last day, I have recreated all 108 mail filters I use, and her address still goes to the junk folder and not a single thing in the "view source" of her emails shows a spam flag

I blacked out the anything that would identify her school address.

Hello

My "from" filter is set to "contains" while yours is set to "is"

As many senders addresses contain more than simply an email address, I mean for example ProZ.com KudoZ <bounce-handler@proz.com> or assurance-maladie@info.ameli.fr

i have always assumed that "contains" is the best way to go for an email address filter although admittedly both options are available.

It is quite rare in fact for me to get an email from , for example

fred.blogs@orange.fr

with no other text like a company name

Also, as I'm not sure at what moment the junk filter kicks in, I have two rules that are identical, one "filter before junk classification" and one "filter after junk classification"

more options

I would suggest you change the 'is' to 'contains'.

more options

Try changing your filter to "contains" as most email addresses have more than just the email address in the header. I've always therefore assumed that "contains" is best

more options

I changed the main filter to "contains" I made a secondary filter with the same email address to run AFTER junk classification

Hopefully this might work.

Hello again I've just noticed that when I set my filter some years ago, I also had "from" XXX, set junk status to "not junk" I think I tried several solutions like you to get TB to do what I wanted and I was trying to cover all options without fully understanding how TB filters work

more options

changing the main filter to contains and making a 2nd filter to run after Junk controls did not work. got up this morning to a new email from her teacher in the Junk Folder

I have literally clicked the box "NOT JUNK" over 2000 times for this one email address since august.

Everything in the viewsource says NOT SPAM and NOT JUNK

For the account: Do you have any filters you created that the Action says Mark as Junk or Move to Junk? If yes, Open 'Message Filters' and click on 'Filter Log'. If 'Filter Log' is empty then you might need to enabled it by selecting the 'Enable the Filter Log' checkbox and wait for next filtering action.

Does the Filter log mention marking that email as Junk / Move to Junk ? If yes, then this might point you to which filter is acting upon that email.

For the account: Do you have any filters you created that the Action says Move to Local Folders ? If yes, then select the 'Local Folders' account in the 'Filters for:' option. Do you have any filters you created that the Action says Mark as Junk or Move to Junk on account name?
