Does Thunderbird show the date an e-mail was created?
I work from home and record my hours worked. Occasionally I forget to note the time I started. I used to use Outlook which could tell me the date an e-mail was created which was far more use than the time an e-mail was sent in establishing my hours worked. I can't see this anywhere on Thunderbird. I appreciate that this might not be a default setting (it isn't on Outlook) but I'm hoping there is a way I can see this information.

I did some digging and don't believe there's an option for this. There's date and / date received column but I don't know if the date means date created or not. Usually these dates are the same, but that's because the emails are being sent immediately.
You could just email yourself as soon as you start work or switch tasks if you want to use the time stamps to keep track, but unfortunately, I can't find a setting to enable "show date created" on thunderbird emails.
This could be a suggested enhancement submitted to bugzilla. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/home
Here's a workaround that might help: when you start a new message, save it as a draft, and note that the Date in Drafts is the time it was created. Just before you send the message, check the Date in Drafts to calculate the time spent on the message.
