Couldn't get Thunderbird to connect to Yahoo Email - found solution, will post

more options

I posted the following question in someone else's topic and am giving you my question and the solution I found here:

[quote]Having time-out issues with a yahoo account as well, but I'm unable to post a request for help in this forum. In my case, I set up a new profile. The email connection is working with my existing default profile, but not for the new profile I set up. Not sure how to post here. I type my issue, here in the forum, click on send and nothing happens. I tried FF Accounts and couldn't get into the forum at all. I don't want anything forum related on my phone, so I can't get past the verification process. When I do a search for my own posts here in this forum, it says none are found, even though I just posted a couple of weeks ago. /quote

The solution was that after creating a new profile, I had to then additionally add an email account. When I added the account, I unchecked the box that says to store your password. Having unchecked this, the adding the new email account couldn't complete and make the connection with Yahoo. When I started over and added the email account and left the box to store the password checked, the connection to Yahoo worked right away.

What I know from this is that my password is being stored. (why?) And additionally, it is being stored by someone. Thunderbird? Again, why. Why can't I complete the add email account without storing my password and simply give it in each time? Where is it being stored?

Thanks Matt! It was not easy for me to get to this window where I could post my own question. When I clicked on the Login button at the top right of the screen, nothing happened at all. I clicked and clicked. :)
