Your picture shows the incoming server settings. Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) at the bottom of the left pane of Account Settings. The recommended settings are: smtp.sfr.fr on port 465, SSL/TLS connection security, authentication = normal password, User name = email address.

I checked all the points suggested but am not sure whether the problem is solved. I now receive another error message:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 Service unavailable. Client host 37.120.148.92 rejected for spamming issues. Adresse cliente 37.120.148.92 bloquee pour incident de spam; http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=37.120.148.92.

Please check the message recipient "support-dmp.cnam@assurance-maladie.fr" and try again.

I have never sent spam in my life !

It's not that you are sending spam, but possibly someone hosted on 37.120.148.92 (in Romania) is sending spam using your address, and the recipient's mail server is rejecting those messages. I suggest you relay the error message to your mail provider and seek their advice.

I have changed my ISP and the problem seems no longer to exist. Many thanks for your help and advice.
