i have two email accounts with the same name at the first buddynfo@hotmail.com and buddynfo@gmail.com. i think your program only checks the first part of the email name and i get emails to both email accounts. so if someone sends an email to buddynfo .... i get it in both accounts. as i say i think your program only checks the first part of the email. another company only checks the first part of the location niagara falls. i am in canada and it keeps changing me over to the USA address.

i have to go thru both accounts to see if the other has a different email. just hoping i can solve a problem for you

I, like many people, have accounts with different providers which have the same user name, and I don't experience what you see. Keep in mind that your sending address can be switched without your knowledge if you are sending through the wrong server. For example, if your hotmail account is set up to send through the gmail smtp server, gmail will automatically switch the sending address to the gmail address. If a recipient replies to your message, it will go to the gmail account.

Open Tools/Account Settings, select an account in the left pane, then look at Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the lower right pane. Is the hotmail account sending on the hotmail smtp, and the gmail account sending on the gmail smtp?

and have you used to facilities in say gmail to collect mail from outlook? And perhaps even done the same at outlook. That is the usual cause of folk complaining they are getting mail from two account in the same one. They forget they did it, or assume that for some reason it will sty separated.

I do not understand your point. If you do not want Thunderbird to use your address book to replace the display name information in the mail lists with what is in your address book. Turn the option off.
