All messages - and no others - from one sender are constantly flagged as junk. It is mail coming from Yahoo but I have checked and this sender is not marked as "Spam" there. His emails go in my inbox as normal. Particularly infuriating, although his mails do go in my Thunderbird inbox so I can live with it. Would like to know why though.

Note: 'Junk' is a word used by Thunderbird. Pop mail accounts will auto have a 'Junk' folder. Imap mail accounts usually have a folder called 'Spam'.

Do emails from that email address have the word 'Spam' mentioned? Do emails from that email address say 'This message may be a scam' on a red background. Do emails from that email address say 'Thunderbird thinks this is Junk Mail' ? Is the email always going to the 'Junk' folder or the 'Spam' folder?

Is that email address set up as a contact in one your address books?

Right click on mail account in Folder pane and select 'Settings' Select 'Junk settings' Do your 'Junk Settings' for that account: allow selected address books to act as whitelists? Is the contact in one of those selected address books?

Is this option selected: 'Trust Junk mail headers set by' eg: SpamAssassin

YES I know Do emails from that email address have the word 'Spam' mentioned? NO Do emails from that email address say 'This message may be a scam' on a red background. NO Do emails from that email address say 'Thunderbird thinks this is Junk Mail' ? YES: that was my issue Is the email always going to the 'Junk' folder or the 'Spam' folder? NO, as explained in my original question Is that email address set up as a contact in one your address books? YES Right click on mail account in Folder pane and select 'Settings' Select 'Junk settings' Do your 'Junk Settings' for that account: allow selected address books to act as whitelists? I don't know: I can't see where I find that out. It is set not to mark any mail as junk from senders in my personal address book: the sender is in my personal address book. I believed I could "train" TB, as billed, to recognise mail as not junk, but despite repeatedly flagging mail from this sender as NOT junk it ignores this. Is the contact in one of those selected address books? YES, it is in my personal address book. Is this option selected: 'Trust Junk mail headers set by' eg: SpamAssassin NO

I think this will just have to remain a mystery. Annoying though.

Sorry, the above reply is more or less unreadable as it's zapped all the line breaks, Wonderful

As the Junk mail is not going to your 'Junk' folder, then maybe you have not setup your Junk Controls to do this.

re : the sender is in my personal address book. Please check to see if that sender/email address has managed to get into any other address book.

  • click on 'Address Book'
  • select 'All Address Books'

Make sure you have these column headers enabled:

  • 'Name', 'Email' and 'Address Book' column headers.
  • click on 'Email' column header to sort by email address.
  • Scroll down until you locate that contacts 'email address'.

It is important to check email address and not Name as it is possible to get different names, but not email address.

Q: Is that email address entered more than once? Q: If yes, which address books are listed for that contact?
