No Audio
When will a 'fixed' release of Firefox be available, that restores audio output on Linux-based systems ?
Has the 'source' of the issue been identified ? (i.e. 'full name')

hi, since version 52 firefox requires pulseaudio under linux: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/53.0/system-requirements/
Yes, 'that' is the issue.
Do you have an ETA as to when it will be resolved ?

it has been a conscious decision to require pulseaudio from now on, so i don't think it's an issue that's going to be "resolved": https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/mozilla.dev.platform/jRAqSTri66I
So, the user's of Enterprise Linux distributions need to contact their providers (i.e. RedHat, CentOS, etc) and specify that they remove "Firefox" from their releases (and provide an alternative 'working' application) ?
P.S. perhaps the Mozilla/Firefox team isn't old enough to remember "New Coke" and/or the PS/2 computer...
Hi Yubbly, On this support forum we can try to provide solutions for or workarounds for end users. We are only fellow users of Firefox. We do not have developers and decision makers here.
Please try the official main Mozilla fora or mailing lists. You could even consider posting in Reddit Firefox as Mozilla Firefox people are known to monitor that. If you post in the main fora please cross link that post from this thread so we may follow your discussion.
:-)
I can remember the PS/2 and its predecessors & probably have a still working mothballed Windows 3 machine
Do you remember what the result of the PS/2 (and 'new' coke) had on it's creators...
Does the Firefox (and Mozilla) groups believe that 'they' can successfully 'wag the dog' ?
yubby, as I said not something we can help you with.
We do not talk about development decisions here because we are not the Developers and decision makers and none of those are going to see your posts here.
Please post in the main Mozilla fora where decision makers will see your post.
I have systems that this change has affected and broken. I do not like the decision, but there is probably little chance of Mozilla reversing the decision. Posting here is not going to influence anyone important or that decision.
