How can I switch from the beta version of Firefox to the regular one without uninstalling or installing anything to keep from losing my addons and preferences?

Web site decision makers:

If an upper case letter and a number and eight characters are arbitrarily REQUIRED for a password in order to create an account, then SAY SO in the first place. Don't say that the password "should" include them, when obviously it SHOULD NOT have any requirement at all. Don't wait till I make a correct, usable password in spite of your stupid suggestions, and then tell me you changed your mind and I am now forced to make a useless temporary password after I have already memorized the usable one.

The user of the account should be the one who decides what the password will be, NOT some geek who has obviously has not ever lived a single moment of real life. If you can't at least emulate the thought processes of a normal person, you should not make decisions about requirements that will be inflicted on normal people.

Best solution: Allow people to ask questions without having to "create accounts" in the first place. I don't want to marry you or have your children. I just want to solve problems caused by your broken software.

Thanks.

Hi

Thank you for your question. We are in the middle of moving to a new support platform, so hopefully you will not have some of the issues you mention in the future.

With regards to Beta, the best way to move to it would be to:

  1. Take a copy of your profile (full details here). Make sure you have Firefox closed before you copy or move your profile.
  2. Install Beta from here and insert your backed up profile (again, with Firefox closed).

I hope this helps.

In your response you are telling me how to switch TO BETA from regular which is the opposite of what I was asking. I am trying to GET RID OF BETA and go BACK TO REGULAR, NON-BETA Firefox.

Is it equally complicated to switch away from Beta back to Regular Firefox?

Hi

Apologies, I misread your question.

It is the same process, but you can down load a Release version of Firefox from here.
