I changed the year and date format in the MacBook pro (running mountain lion 10.8.5) preferences/Language &Text and now Thunderbird shows all the last 15 years of emails dates as the year 2017.

How can I get Thunderbird's email year dates back to what they should be ??

I have restored the Thunderbird Library folder from a timemachine back up that was before the event mentined above. But alas that did not help; all of those year dates were also 2017.

I would really appreciate a hand in solving this, Mac and Thunderbird for 15 years.

Thanks to all, problem solved. If you don't get the Language & Text in Region correct in their boxes things don't work out properly. If you just type in the way you want the format without typing in the oval boxes it just does not work correctly Thanks again Peter

You need to get Thunderbird to Rebuild the Global Database

My instructions are for Windows, but should also apply for Mac.

1. Find your Thunderbird Profile folder: Thunderbird menu: Help: Troubleshooting Information Under "Application Basics", beside "Profile Folder", click the "Show Profile" button.

This will open a window showing the contents of your Thunderbird Profile folder. Leave that window open.

2. Quit Thunderbird.

3. In the window showing your Thunderbird Profile, find the file "global-messages-db.sqlite" and delete it. Then close this window.

4. Start Thunderbird. The re-indexing process will start automatically. Depending on the number of messages, it might take some time for the indexing to complete. You can continue to use Thunderbird, but performance might be affected and search will return only partial results or even no results until the indexing is complete. The indexing progress can be monitored through the Tools > Activity Manager menu.

Thanks Bruce a great effort, but after re-indexing which looked very promising the year date on all of my email back to 2003 is still 2017. Regards Peter Carey
