I was recently offered a brightness change by mozilla on my computer screen that I can't get rid of it once I made that change; I want it back to normal....
My Default 50.0 was updated by my acceptance of a toned-down brightness change and I have decided not to continue with it but the update cannot be removed. I do not want any other change to my add-ons...

Hi !
Personally, I use these keys on my keyboard: ☼- and ☼+
But you can also look at:

Brightness is not the issue; thanks for your reply. It is a Mozilla Firefox update that I want removed. When I turned my computer on on Nov. 15 and Firefox came on I got a large screen pop-up asking if I wanted to change the blueish hue of the screen to a warmer hue. I clicked on to try it. It is a subtle tan color. When I open add-ons and choose Appearance it shows a Default 50.0 and an update on that date. I do not know how to remove it without changing the rest of my theme which I want...

Let me get this straight:
You want to go back to maybe Firefox version 49.0.2 ?
If so: I really wish you'd reconsider; read the warning in the article 'Install an older version of Firefox' :

But if I can't change your mind now: you can always update to the latest version again !

It's not normal for Firefox to show a large pop-up promoting an add-on...
Could you share with us your current list of enabled and disabled extensions? These have their own section of the Add-ons page, separate from "Appearance" (themes). The simplest way to share that is to view the full list on the troubleshooting information page. Either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter/Return
Then scroll down to Extensions and just below that heading, select the table with your mouse and copy it (either Ctrl+c or right-click > Copy), then paste it into a reply (either Ctrl+v or right-click > Paste). It will look a bit messy, but we're used to it. Thanks.
No, Happy112, I do not want to go back. I was always "Happy" with Default 50.0...It just shows that Default 50.0 was updated on Nov. 15 2016...the day I accepted Mozilla's 'try this' offer(color softener). IMHO, there should be a way to Remove it but that screen that shows the update does not have a Remove button option... I appreciate the Help from you and others...thx.
....... but you will follow 'jscher2000's' advice, though; won't you ? (please ?)
I am a bit leery of posting all this info as being a bit unsavvy about how much info it would take to have a "virus" installed. I trust some people but not all. By looking at the troublshooting list I am seeing "overbuilds" to the Start page and am feeling I might have introduced something without knowing...

Just go ahead and do as jcher2000 adviced you to do; you have absolutely nothing to worry about it.
I will but don't have the time now. It shows 3 extensions on my list: 2 for Avast which are running and 1 Firefox hotfix which isn't because it wasn't compatible with Default 50.0.
Thanks to you both for now..."I'll Be Back"...
If you are only running Avast extensions, it seems unlikely that any of them would care about screen color, but you never know what they will think of next.

What is the extent of the color change. For example, Firefox's toolbar area only, or the web page content area only, or only some websites, or everything in Firefox? Does it affect any other applications on your system, the Windows desktop, or anything else?
No, the whole screen darkens a tad, BUT, I must confess that now when I turned on my laptop I dallied a bit on the 8.1 Start page before hitting my Firefox app to turn the firefox home page on...the start page darkened...duh on me. This must be a windows app! Normally I hit the Firefox icon right away. I could have sworn it was a Mozilla heading that morning; when I get online in the AM it is very early(4:30-5:00AM). I must have missed it being half-asleep. Mea Culpa. Thanks for trying to help, Firefoxeteers. I feel dumb but I had to confess...now I will aim at a different target. Thanks to you, jscher2000 and Happy112. nodster49.

Absolutely no need to feel guilty, and you are definately not dumb; as a matter of fact: I think you're quite smart, having it figured it out all by yourself ! You know what to do now, don't you ? If not: we're still here ......
