After installing Firefox 4.9.3.1000 I attempt to sync by signing into my account, but get this error: "you must be connected to internet" (I am connected, however).

Other solutions mention removing a Nvidia forceware component (wasn't installed)...though I am using an Nvidia video card.

I notice that even the mozilla support pages don't load properly in Firefox...what the heck!

This is my second time trying to get Firefox to work properly. Could it be an incompability issue with my Nvidia card, perhaps?

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

I was able to fix this problem after I noticed that a second error was present only briefly that stated there was "no secure connection"...

I went into advanced setup for my ESET Nod32 antivirus, and under Web Access Protection, Web Protocols, disabled HTTPS checking...problem solved!

Ok this helped but just cannot get the conformation email! I have tried several times and eventually did get one but when I tried that it came back and said I had tried too many times and to try again in 15 mins. I did and it said that it was verified yet Firefox it still requesting a verification!
