Update your Flash Player Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).
Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Hi FredMcD:
I tried to download the newest flashplug but I couldn't get it to run so I checked my plugin list and Firefox has my current plugin blocked as well as it is "vulnerable". Do you think if I used my revo uninstaller to yank out the old plug would I be able to download the new one??
Thanks for your help

Run this uninstaller first. Then try the installer again.
Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac
Then reinstall the latest version.
Hey Fred:
I downloaded the windows uninstaller but I can't get it to open either what now??

Find the program and run it.
If you are still having problems, Type about:plugins<enter> in the address bar. Now search for the plugin.
Example; Adobe Acrobat File: nppdf32.dll,nppdf32.dll Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\browser\nppdf32.dll,C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AIR\nppdf32.dll Version: 11.0.9.29 State: Enabled Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.9
This will show you the path to that program. Copy the Path Only. Also, note the name of the file, and remember it. Now Close Firefox. Open your file browser and paste the path in the address bar. Find the file, and delete it. Now you can restart Firefox. Warning ! Remember to delete the right program.
To be safe, remove all of them. Then install the current.

Hi Fred:
ok I found the file browser and pasted the "path" in the address bar but when I hit search I get a popup that states " windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" So whose permission am I supposed to get???

What path did you use?
Here is the path I used for the adobe acrobat plug in.
Path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\browser\nppdf32.dll
60fuelieman said
Path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\browser\nppdf32.dll
My instruction said; Path Only. That would make it; C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\browser
Then delete the file nppdf32.dll in the folder.
Fred: I thought thats what I did but I guess not cause now I got a "caution" pop up but I clicked on "open with" and got a windows popup that sez "cannot open file and needs to know program assoc with it 1. use web service - nope just got a new file I could download 2. select from a list - adobe recommended ok did search - cannot locate file. 4 other options and none work
This is driving me nuts

Still cannot find the file to delete the "vulnerable" plugin but now I have another problem. Now when I get the pop up that my plugin is outdated and needs to be updated when I click to update the first screen I get advises that my version of firefox is outdated and needs to be updated to keep my plugins running smoothly so I click on "update now". when the down load is completed a pop up sez I already have this version and do I wish to replace it so I click to replace it and it loads. I double click the 43 start up icon and complete the startup. When I go into the replacement firefox I get the same popup with the same screen saying I am using an outdated version of firefox. What the hell is going on?????
Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then Close Firefox.
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files (x86)
Mac: Open the "Applications" folder.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac
Linux: Check your user manual.
Do Not remove the profiles folder.
Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder.
After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.
If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.
Hi Fred:
Before I got started on the re-install I thought I better see if I can find the areas you want me to work in. I found and down loaded the firefox version #43 for all languages and replaced the #43 that I already had so the installer is ready to go. Firstly I cannot find the "programs folder". using my file browser. I cut and pasted the windows link but no file found and Idid a search in all files and folders with nothing. Secondly I cannot locate the"registry scanner" .Searching google it sounds like it is some kind of download??
The fun never stops
