I am pretty much computer illiterate. I bought a new computer but do not know how to transfer over all the stuff in my old computer on Thunderbird. I downloaded the program from the internet. But messages are still going to my old computer. I have looked at the options for transferring data but do not know what they are talking about. Files? Gmail accounts? I have a lot of messages I have left in the inbox for various reasons.

Email messages don't "go to" a computer. The computer asks the server for them. If you stop using the old computer, messages can't "go to" it.

Please post your settings (from the old computer) so we can understand what sort of accounts you are using.

  • Open Help (or click on three-line-icon and select Help).
  • Choose Troubleshooting Information.
  • Clear the check box "Include account names".
  • Use the button Copy to clipboard to select and copy all the settings to the system clipboard.
  • Paste this in your post. Right-click|Paste or ctrl+v

Please post back with this information and any other questions you might have.
