Options page allows me to select Search tab but no other options (Privacy, Security, etc) even after a clean reinstall, so no solutions for other problems work.

Twitter's login system (remember me checkbox and login button specifically) do not change based upon clicks after the most recent update of firefox. In addition, all of my numerous addons were wiped during this install, which has never happened to me before. Some youtube videos load audio but don't show any video other than a black screen, whether in fullscreen mode or normal sized browser player. All of these issues have solutions listed such as check the cookies and cache information or start in Safe Mode and try again, or do a clean reinstall, but Safe Mode has no effect and the same problems persist after a clean reinstall (deletion of folders and everything). In addition, I cannot access the cookies or cache options because whenever I try to go to that section of the Options menu it will change the URL of the page but not the content displayed. The only tab within that menu that changes anything is when switching from General to the Search section, and even then it will not change back to General or to any other section after that. I've tried this both before and after a clean reinstall, and with/without Safe Mode.

You are reporting many issues. Let's start with this; Your System Details shows;

Installed Plug-ins

Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0 Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0 Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Flash Player Version: 21.0.0.213 Flash Player (Linux) Version 11.2.202.616

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download.

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Do a clean reinstall of the current Firefox release and delete the Firefox program folder before installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows Registry and settings in security software.

  • Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you uninstall and reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

If you keep having problems then create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.
