How may I download and install an earlier version of Thunderbird (one without the accursed extraneous subfolder asterisks)?

Please refer to my prior question regarding the new asterisks on folder content counts. This new question is simply "how may I back up to an earlier version that doesn't feature that "improvement"?

Thanks -

I cannot begin to guess what version you want to go back to.

The files are laid out where you pick the version. Then your operation system. Ie: win32 for Windows Then the language. en-us for United States English Finally you come to the .exe file.

Google Thunderbird pervious versions.

Thanks, Airmail. Nice list, but it leaves me hopelessly confused.

1) I have no way of learning the version previously in use on my machine. I can't locate any self-evident prior info in the program directory, which was totally replaced when I installed version 38.5.0, and so don't know which prior version to look for!

2) The list of releases is complete, but simply provides access to raw content of folders and subfolders for each listed version. How may a version for WinXP be determined, and how in the world would one install it? (The usual TBIrd downloads are thankfully self-installing, allowing even us idiots to enjoy the program.)

Thanks in advance for your patience -

Thanks much, Airmail. The file tree clarification version-thru-exe is a great help. You've solved the problem for me, and I'm grateful.

Best regards,

For those interested, I discovered after a couple of downloads that the version I wanted was 29.0b1, issued October 16, 2015. Just follow Airmail's directions to click your way into the sever list for Thunderbird versions. Choose your O/S, then the version, then the language (the English language selection is En-US) - double-click and download to your HDD, then double click the downloaded file to install.
