Mozilla Firefox updated yesterday to ver 39 (i think) but I don't have my msoffice. It wants me to redownload it, but I have ms home and student 2010, not 2013. So, how do I get my stuff back!

You should not lose Microsoft Office when installing or updating Firefox. It's got to be somewhere.

I'm not sure how Office 2010 looks on Windows 8.1. Does it integrate only with the desktop or also with the newer start page?

If your Firefox has gone to full screen and hidden the Taskbar on the desktop, you could try one of these methods to return it to a normal view:

  • the F11 key switches Firefox between full screen and normal view
  • sliding the mouse to the top of the browser should cause the toolbar area to slide down, and right-clicking a blank area of the tab bar (or the "+" button on the tab bar) should give you a context menu with the option to Exit full screen

Sometimes a settings file that stores windows sizes becomes corrupted and causes the Firefox window to become too large. That file is difficult to edit, so in such cases, we recommend renaming the file and having Firefox rebuild it. Here's how:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
  • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename that one to localstore.old.

Start Firefox back up again. Do windows display normally again?
