Barcode scanner scrambling numbers in browser

Is there any reason why Firefox would cause the Honeywell Hyperion 1300g to scramble up barcode numbers when scanned in the browser? The numbers themselves are correct and it doesn't put in any strange characters, it just mixes up the numbers one out of every four scans, approximately (it varies) so the checkin system doesn't recognize the number. I have tested the scanner in Chrome and on several other applications on the computer (Notepad and Word) and it only scrambles the numbers in IE and Firefox. We use a web-based checkin system that requires Firefox since the label printer we use does not work with Chrome properly, so switching isn't really an option right now (though I am looking into it). I am running Windows 7 Professional and have updated everything that I can possibly update and Honeywell support has never heard of this issue.

Not really sure. But it could be graphics hardware acceleration related.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options on Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux.
  2. Select the Advanced panel and then the General tab.
  3. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  4. Restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
