Calendar search for a future repeated event only shows the first in the series?

I have a calendar event that repeats every two weeks. The event title contains the term 'gaggia'.

When I use the calendar search for 'gaggia' only the first event in the series shows up, and if the first event is in the past, then nothing shows up!

Is his a bug, or intentional. Is there a work-around that will show all future repeats?

My system: Thunderbird 31.7.0, Lightning 3.3.3, Linux Mint 17.1 'Rebecca'.
