Hi,

Firefox 31.0 Win 7 x64 Home Premium

I can't close an individual tab with <ctrl>w. It was working a few days ago but now when I try <ctrl>w on one tab, the "close all tabs?" dialog box appears.

I can click on the "x" on that tab to close but I'm a keyboard geek :). I don't often use the mouse on my Desktop PC.

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

Hello Scoop,

Thats strange, you can refer to this article [ https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/971228 ] or you can download keyconfig, which allows you to change keyboard shortcuts from [ http://mozilla.dorando.at/keyconfig.xpi ] . Read more about keyconfig from [ http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=72994 ].

Hope that helps.

@Talha

Thanks for the info. I found the problem, one that I created *duh*.

I run a script/hotkey program and I had recently added a <ctrl>w definition to close the Firefox window. I fixed the problem by removing that definition in my script file.

I'm new to Firefox and am still learning some things about it.

I'm using IE for most browsing but have been using Firefox for my streaming with very good results.

The main reason that I've been reluctant to use Firefox for my main browser is that I'm addicted to shortcut keys :).

IE has a couple of them that I use many times daily when browsing:

<ctrl>k = open duplicate tab

I know that I can open a duplicate tab in Firefox by holding the <ctrl> key while right-clicking on the "refresh" icon in the address bar but I prefer shortcut keys to mouse use.

The other feature that IE has that, so far, I don't see a way to do this in Firefox, is that when one selects a site from the bookmark window, the window closes automatically when the selected bookmark page is loaded.

Firefox leaves the bookmark window open. I know I can close it without the mouse with <ctrl>I or b , but I'd like for the bookmark window to close without user action, once the new page loads.

Perhaps I can achieve these preferences in Firefox by installing "keyconfig" as you mentioned earlier.

Thanks for the links and info :)

@Diego

Thanks for the info. The problem was self-inflicted, see my previous reply.

Thanks for the info, for future use :)

@cor-el

Thanks for the links. I read your first link and I see a keyboard shortcut that IE doesn't have, relocating (focusing) the order of Firefox tabs. Nice :)
