Why does Mozilla coerce me into SYNC hence depriving me from a simple import routine for its own format (JSON) which had been around for donkeys years?

I consider my bookmarks as a part of my privacy and security and will refrain from an installation in absence of an answer making sense to me.

Thanx.

The main reason is that there is no native file navigation in Android. A secondary reason is that the bookmarks and history format on Firefox for Android is different than desktop Firefox. So it is not a simple case of dropping the desktop code in Firefox for Android.

@kbrosnan

thanx for your response.

even so your,

"that the bookmarks and history format on Firefox for Android is different than desktop Firefox."

So what? that's what converter supposed to deal with...

"it is not a simple case of dropping the desktop code in Firefox for Android"

what is sync doing? converting into .

Please give reasons why still no desktop plugin exists for backuping bookmarks into json OR Android types.

there ain't one.

Anvil2k12,

kbrosnan is in the Quality Assurance team at Mozilla so I'm certain he knows what's up.

The differences in code between Desktop Fx and Android Fx is huge so I'm sure they can't just copy/paste the code from Desktop Fx and make it work without breaking everything.

If you feel this strongly about getting JSON support on Android, you can file a bug on Bugzilla OR you can build your own Firefox off the source code and add it yourself. Either way, it's not possible to do this at this time.

moses, "kbrosnan is in the Quality Assurance team at Mozilla so I'm certain he knows what's up."

so do I, and may we just clarify which applies to your "Either way, it's not possible to do this at this time. ":

just rephrasing the problem is not an answer although it counts here as such.

Nobody was asking for copy and paste either.

please read my question and reply to him and response adequate. just being sure is the same to me as guessing.

If you can't - say so but don't disguise behind platitudes. this derails the whole thread.

thanx Damian

Given your tone there is nothing I or anyone else can say to make you happy. This feature is not implemented. The amount of work for it to be done is non-trivial.
