Could you describe what you're seeing in more detail: Is there a specific error message from Firefox, or from Microsoft's site? Or does the page load only partially, or is the layout wrecked?

I'm not sure of everything you tried, but the most common steps would be:

  • Clear cache
  • Clear cookies for the site
  • Try Firefox's Safe Mode to bypass extensions
  • If you are using a bookmark, try navigating to your mail a different way in case the server address has changed and the old one isn't redirecting properly

For a recent thread touching those points, see: Weird behaviour in Outlook.com, only with Firefox.

I have tried everything you mentioned, when I get the outlook sign in screen I type in my name and password and the screen goes blank thats it. It has been like this for a few days everything else works and internet explorer has no problem opening outlook.

When the screen goes blank, can you see whether the site has started the process of redirecting back to your Inbox? Usually the address would change from something like login.live.com to col125.mail.live.com (your specific server probably is different than mine).

After you log in, if you try to go to mail.live.com do you get redirected back to login, or to your Inbox, or to a blank page?

(Fixed life to live in the first address...)

I see. The site is never logging you in. The login page is blanking out before you can successfully submit your username and password.

I'm having trouble thinking of a reason for that.

If you're not fed up with troubleshooting, could you do a three-minute experiment?

Create a new Firefox profile

A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.

Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):

firefox.exe -P

Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.

Click the Create Profile button and choose a name like Testing. Please skip the option to choose a new folder location. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.

Are you able to log in to Outlook in the new profile?

If so, to see whether it's repeatable, try exiting out of Firefox, starting it up again, and logging in again. Any difference?

When returning to the Profile Manager to switch back to your normal settings, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button on Testing. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

I have done this also with no luck, I have just also noticed the similar problem with google chrome. Seems outlook is only working on internet explorer. Coincidence?

It could indicate a Microsoft site change that wasn't thoroughly tested, but that doesn't really help you...

If this is true there would be a lot of people complaining, is there? It has been a few days and can't see microsoft taking this long to fix the problem?

I linked to the other recent thread I'm aware of.

Do you use any external software or services that affect Firefox and Chrome differently than IE? These might include proxy services, security software, or maybe different DNS settings?

I do have Norton360 but I have turned it off and I still have the same problem.
