How can I limit cookies and still register accounts and login?

I would like to limit the information that websites can save about me, but still be able to register for an account and login. My preference would be a setting that would prevent all information from being stored without specific authorization by me. When a website tries to save any information (ie cookies), I would be prompted once. I could choose one of the settings (Allow, Allow for Session, Block). That setting would be saved and I wouldn't be bothered again on that site.

Can anyone tell me if there is a combination of settings that will do that?

The settings I have now seem to do what I want except for the prompt. I think I have cookies disabled on all sites by default except for those specifically allowed in the Exceptions list.

For some bizarre reason, this site does not allow me to upload attachments, so I've put a screen shot of my Privacy Options dialog in this Dropbox folder:

These settings do what I want except for the prompt. If I go to a website and try to set up an account, I have to remember to manually add that URL to the Exceptions list. It would be great if FF would prompt me that teh website wants to store a cookie and allow me to allow it.

Is there a way to do that?

You could check "Accept Cookes from" and manually add exceptions to the list. Though I am not sure if it will prompt you.

There is a cookies manager add on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../?src=search There is a button to whitelist from the time you go to the site Cookie Whitelist with Buttons

The ask me every time feature for third party cookies is about:config pref network.cookie.alwaysAcceptSessionCookies. Check that options first to always ask, and let us know how it goes. It worked for me :)
