Why no more statusbar? Why hide everything (dumbed down interface)?

I saw a reply by Mozilla which said it felt it was necessary to create an interface that was the same for laptop/desktop as for mobile. This is the same dumb mistake Microsoft tried to make with Win8 and people squawked a LOT about not liking it. If you had made this an option with an easy way to revert to the old style as an option under Tools, then you could have taken care of your new intended audience without alienating all of us who do not want a Chromed-up Firefox.

But instead, you doubled down, making the same mistake Yahoo tried to get away with when they tried to Googlemail-ify Yahoo mail, and tried to get away with eliminating the old features to force wider usage of the new interface.

Still not learning, the tech interface gurus rambled on, giving us Google+ and forcing people into it. It forced me to abandon the use of my gmail account because it got hijacked into an unfamiliar Google+ space. Only months later, Google caught on that their plus guru was juking the stats (and p***sing off the user base.)

Now Mozilla comes to the fair and tries to use all the same reasons and tactics, and wonders why people don't like it. But they also don't bother to consider that for every one who bothers to complain with little hope of satisfaction, there will be a hundred who will just move on. But by the time the erosion becomes clear in the numbers you look at, the damage will have been done.

Hi DangoDog,

Can you please elaborate more on the status bar that you are talking about? My status bar on the bottom left corner is working correctly - it shows the status of the webpage loading, but then hides when there is no status to be shown.

What is the status bar that you mention?

Thanks!

- Ralph
