When I updated Firefox to 27.0.1 I lost scrapbook, so I did a reset of firefox. Did I lose all of my scrapbook items? I think I have scrapbook plus 2 installed - I think!! At this point I am totally frustrated. I have used Firefox for years, and this is the first time I have had such issues.

Also, alt print screen and print screen does not work properly with Firefox now. It works fine with Internet Explorer and Chrome, and believe me I went thru hell trying to find out what was wrong before I found out that the updated Firefox was the problem. I am using win xp sp 3. I would appreciate any help.

I am just about ready to say goodby to Firefox even tho I have loved it in the past.

Thank you for any help.

被選擇的解決方法

Hi Rob, thanks for sending me the document.

I think the strange "partial screen" artifacts could indicate that Firefox is not fully compatible with your graphics card driver. The usual workaround is to disable Firefox's use of hardware acceleration.

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

That will take effect after you exit and restart Windows. Any difference?

I notice that you turned off hardware acceleration about 14 months ago for a different reason (https://support.mozilla.org/questions/948616), but after using Firefox's reset feature, that would have defaulted back to "on".

Please pause for a minute on making further changes.

When you use Firefox's Reset feature, your old profile folder (which contains your Scrapbook data) is moved to the Desktop and placed in a folder named Old Firefox Data.

Can you find that folder? If so, we can go over suggestions for how to get the data into your current Firefox profile. (Please do not move the folders/files. I recommend keeping the old folder intact in case multiple attempts are needed.)

To reinstall Firefox 26.0, if you think that will help with the other issues, you can find a link in this article (assuming you visit the article in Firefox 27.0 or 27.0.1): Install an older version of Firefox.

Thank you so much for your reply. I took your advice and went back to Firefox 26.0, but that didn’t solve the problem with Alt Print Screen and Print Screen. I guess that the change that affected it must have taken place in a previous release. At this point I can use Internet Explorer or Chrome if I need to retrieve something. I realize that this is probably not a big issue for most people, but I use the capability a lot.

I found the old profile folder that you mentioned so I would appreciate your help in that regard when it is convenient for you to respond.

Again, thank you for your help.

On PrintScreen and Alt+PrintScreen, these keys should be handled by Windows, so I'm not sure why they would stop working in one application. Do they not work on any page, plain or fancy, or is there any pattern to the problem?

For Scrapbook, these were my suggestions from the last time I looked into it: after firefox reset, how do I pick out things from my scrapbook I want to keep. Does that work?

Jscher2000,

Thank you for your reply on scrapbook. I haven't tried it yet, but I am sure it will work. I have included a word document that shows the different results that I get with Internet Explorer and Firefox. I hope that it comes thru properly. I know it must seem strange to you that Firefox is the problem, but hopefully these examples will be helpful.

Again, thank you for your efforts. I love Firefox and hope that there is a fix.

I HAVE TRIED TO SEND THE WORD DOCUMENT BY CLICKING ON BROWSE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. IS THERE A WAY I CAN SEND YOU THESE EXAMPLES?

Here on the forum you can attach individual images, but not a Word document. Is that possible?

Thank you for your response.

I am not sure how to do this. Do you have any suggestions on how to learn to do this?

Thanks again for your help.

Turned off hardware acceleration and Alt Print Screen now seems to work perfectly. I use Alt Print Screen a lot and was afraid I would have to start using another browser. Thank you so much.

I tried to follow your advice with Scrapbook but had trouble getting it to work. It was late, so I may have done something wrong. Will give it another try and hopefully get it to work.

Your instructions on how to copy from the old scrapbook to scrapbook-empty worked perfectly, but I have had trouble learning how to use this new version.

SBP appears in the menu bar. When I click on it my four choices are:; Capture page,Capture page as,Create bookmark with ScrapBookPlus 2 , and Open sidebar. The original scrapbook brought up all the folder choices. With this new one I don’t know where to locate the folders.

Opened the sidebar, but not sure how to work it. When I click on tools and then , scrapbook-orner offnen I can see the scrapbook empty folder and it has the information in it when I click properties.

I looked for instructions on how to use scrapbook plus 2 but was unsuccessful in finding any.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Actually, I've never used Scrapbook myself. Hopefully there's some good "how to" documentation on the Add-ons site or on the author's site.

Thank you for all your efforts. You have solved the problem I had with Alt Print Screen which was the most important one for me.

Since I actually posed two questions on original my post I will mark this problem as solved and list the scrapbook question with a new post.

Again, thank you for enabling me to continue to use Firefox. Without your help I would have had to change browsers because of the Alt Print Screen problem.
