In Private Browsing mode all cookies are session cookies that expire automatically if the current session ends.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode (Never Remember History).
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

It would help if you told us what you are talking about. If you are talking about add-ons, you go to the add-on manager, select the proper add-on, and press <Enable>.
