I would like my start page to open with a restored session. Can it be done?

Looking at the results I have found, I am guessing this is not in demand and also not possible. What I would like to do is open my netvibes page every time Firefox opens. I want this to happen whether a session is being restored or not. This is mainly because I really always want sessions to be restored, but having a quick look at my netvibes page when FF opens would be really useful. Is there maybe a plugin that achieves this?

You can set the www.netvibes.com site as the home page and set the start page to open the home page.
If you want to reopen the previous session then do that via the History menu (Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session).
You can also pin the netvibes.com site (Tab bar right-click context menu: Pin as App Tab) to have easy access to that page.

Thanks for the answer, but I am looking for an automatic solution. I have had iGoogle and NewsFox for ever, but I almost never use them because I simply don't think of them. By having netvibes (as a replacement for iGoogle) open automatically whenever Firefox opens, it would help me make the most of them, in particular reading the various feeds I subscribe to and would like to keep on top of. On the other hand, adding it as an app tab would be a possibility if there is no automatic solution.

HI languageservicesco

there is not more automatic solution from cor-el suggestions. Very simple and effective

you said "....By having netvibes (as a replacement for iGoogle) open automatically whenever Firefox opens, it would help me make the most of them.."

this is exactly in above cor-el reply. try it.

thank you

Thanks for the answer. I must be misunderstanding something. As I understand it, if I specify a home page, this only opens if I don't restore a session. If I want to open that page and restore a session, either the session or the home page has to be opened manually, which doesn't come into my definition of "automatic". Or have I misunderstood?

If you set the home page (not default Firefox home page) then you can select Restore Previous Session from the History menu(not manually), see for more info : Restore previous session - Configure when Firefox shows your most recent tabs and windows

thanks again

Yes, you only get the home page if you do not restore the session automatically, so you need to make a choice and either opt to get the home page or the previous session automatically. You can easily open either the home page via the toolbar button or the previous session via the history menu.
