Dragging bookmarks

Whenever there are certain types of display messages it is impossible to drag bookmarks. This has been going on for many versions of Firefox.

An example: I have the bookmark toolbar active. I have a bookmark in one folder and want to drag it onto the toolbar. A download completes, prompting the message "All downloads complete" in the lower-right portion of the screen. As long as that little message box is moving (either extending onto the screen or retracting), you cannot click and drag the bookmark. If you have already clicked and are in the process of dragging, Firefox acts as if you never began dragging. Clicking will then perform the same task as clicking normally would (like opening another page from your bookmark toolbar).

This means if you are rearranging bookmarks, you must wait for the message to go away or go into the bookmark management window.

When the main browser window doesn't have "focus", you can't do anything like dragging or hi-lighting of text in in the browser window.

Would it be helpful to you to be able to turn off that "All downloads are complete" message?

There is at least one other message of that type-- sometimes when there is a new version of Firefox, it will say so in a similar message box. I was unaware you could disable the download message, but a quick search and now I have it disabled.

What does the browser.autofocus command do within about:config?

What would be most helpful is if the entire idea of focus within the Windows environment was overhauled. It is extremely annoying to open a program like LibreOffice, then work on something else while LO opens, only to have LO force itself on top and in focus again. But of course the document isn't loaded yet, so you go back to the .txt file or internet browser you were working with, just to have LO force itself into focus again when the document is fully loaded. Some programs even put themselves in focus and the user cannot return focus to another program unless they first minimize the new one (i.e. simply clicking on the other program's taskbar icon will not return focus to it).

If the Mozilla guys can change Firefox so at least it doesn't do that, it would be nice. Focus should remain with the currently active program, and never should focus shift to another program or sub-program without user input. The blinking icon in the taskbar is sufficient to let us know the program has finished its assigned task and is awaiting further instructions. Its as if developers assume users are only using one program at a time and have nothing better to do than wait for that program to load. When said user is working with two VMs, a browser, Excel/Word, and any number of other things like downloads or file transfers, it can take a while to open a new program. Especially when the load faster scripts are removed from startup to free up resources and/or allow the OS to boot faster. Again, developers may be surprised to learn that not all users use their program every time the computer is on.

Sorry for the rant.
