ALL my bookmarks disappeared and I am unable to get them back even if I follow instructions - can someone help ...
Hi Firefox folks ... earlier today - Tue., April 24, 2012 - somehow, in closing one browser window and opening another, ALL my bookmarks disappeared - whoosh - gone - vanished ... I had not even touched the keyboard ... then, after going to SUPPORT web page, I tried to follow ALL instructions and even the Firefox browser page TOP BAR looks different ... so I could not do as suggested ... I have been completely unable to regain them ... is there any way I can recover them? Hope so. First problem I ever had since I began using Firefox over last 4 years. Thanks for the good work otherwise ...keep it up.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

You can also try to repair the places database with this extension:
Wed-April 25, 2012 - very early this morning, I re-started Firefox and much to my incredible surprise: ALL my bookmarks had returned ... I do not know how nor why and I shall try and learn more about computers as quickly as I can given my extensive work day ... and ALL my bookmarks are now SAVED in a secure location on two hard drives - mine in the computer and an external one and in a 3rd location on a memory stick ... in case this happens again ... simply wanted to say THANK YOU to those who tried to help me ... you're the best FIREFOX!
