Can't insert hyperlink on Word document or email message

Ever since I switched to FF from IE, I can't insert hyperlinks either on Word document or email message. When I was using IE and wanted to insert hyperlink on a document (inc. email message), I just opened a hyperlink window, choose 'Browsed Page' and click on the web page from the list or click on the actual web page I wanted to hyperlink, and URL automatically appeared on a blank box on the hyperlink window, and that was done when I click 'OK'. But now the system doesn't seem to read any link for web pages at all. I suspect it's probably a compatibility problem between FF and Word and perhapse I need to change the setting on FF, but have no idea how to do it. Please help!! Thanks in advance.
