gmail hangs and firefox 5 is not responding, gmail will not open

When I open Firefox 5, the gmail login page appears. Then when I enter my details the page goes blank/white and the very top-left says: Mozilla Firefox (Not Responding). Nothing will recover then, the whole browser must be closed and commenced again. Normal web surfing is unaffected, only the gmail login shuts the system. Have successfully opened gmail in IE. This problem commenced in concert with upgrading from F4 to F5, yesterday. I have reverted to Firefox 4, but this no longer works either and suffers the same problems. I would prefer not to use IE but have no choice at the moment, can you fix my problem with Firefox please?

Hello Foxes.

I have now solved my problem and it seems to have been a JavaScript conflict. When I upgraded to FF5, most of my Add-ons migrated with it.

One of the successful migrations was the site "privacychoice" and it was not until I checked the validity of each Add-on, that I discovered privacychoice had been the problem. It was not compatible and should NOT have been included in the upgrade.

Once privacychoice was eliminated everything worked as it should: fingers crossed. I suggest you systematically disable each Add-on until you eliminate the offending add-on.
