When i input my email address into contact forms or payment forms, I always get a pop up box saying 'enter email address' even though I have entered the same email adress I have uysed for the last 20 years !

That is most likely security for the site not a Browser action. Some site does this now to verify that it's a person using the computer not a Bot.
