Just installed Firefox on my MacBook Pro (macOS 12.3.1) and my first Google search looks like the attached screenshot. Obviously this is unusable. How do I fix this? Font-settings are all default, and the checkbox for allowing site to use their own fonts is checked. WTF?

I'd love to replace Chrome with Firefox as my default browser, but since I'm unable to read anythng in my search results, I'm already regretting this idea. I have tried various font-settings, but they have no effect at all on how the Google results look.

Any help?

PS: I have searched the forum for similar issues, but have not found any solution.

Here's the screenshot, don't know why it isn't showing.

And I've tried the about:config solution, changing the sandbox value to 1 (instead of 3), but also no effect. Tons of restarts and reboots.

Fonts seem ok on random other sites, but unreadable Google search results make the entire browser experience unusable. I've had Firefox as my standard browser for years, and now, after a couple years with Chrome, I'd love to return to Ff. But experiencing this problem 'on first contact' is both scary and thoroughly annoying.

You can check in Font Book for font issues like corrupted and duplicate fonts.

You can right-click and select "Inspect" to open the built-in Inspector with this element selected.

You can check in the Rules tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font-family is used for selected text. You can check in the Fonts tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font is actually used because Firefox might be using a different font than specified by the website.
