I'm not sure that responding will really answer whatever your problem is.The password is stored at tools>setting>privacy&security. you must first click the 'saved passwords' button to display them, and then highlight the row that contains the password to change and then right-click and a menu opens with 'edit password' as an option. However, that is the password that works. If it had not, Thunderbird would have advised that the password didn't work and would have offered to accept a replacement.
