Did bookmark attributes change? If so, why???

more options

If you make a bookmark in FF, then right click it and select "Properties", there used to be a text box attribute that I used to use to put notes about the website (no, not passwords). Earlier this week I tried to look at the notes for one of my bookmarks and was dismayed to find that that text box no longer exists?!? Am I missing something? Are my years worth of notes just gone?

Hi pilotwombat, is this problem on your Android Firefox or on a desktop version of Firefox?

Firefox 62 (Nightly or latest Developer Edition) has removed the form field to read/change the "Description" for bookmarks. The data is still available for export, but it can no longer be updated in Firefox and it is planned to be deleted in Firefox 64.

More info on what's going on, temporary workarounds, and how to export in this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1222483

Is that the issue?

Both, really. For reasons unknown, there has never been a text box in the mobile version. The change I was referring to happened on the desktop version, though.

To keep the Descriptions field for as long as possible, you could switch to the release version (currently 60, soon 61). Although your data should be preserved through the downgrade, you may want to make a backup just in case.

Eventually, you and other affected Firefox users will need to find another solution for associating notes with websites. The well-established "web clippers" like OneNote and Evernote will suit some users; other users probably will prefer a local form of storage. "To be contined..."
