The new format of Firefox is driving me away. I cannot understand why when something is working well, some idiot with a brain in the in the heavens rather than being practical on earth decides to wreck that which is working well It must be an ego boost or some other brain aberration. The old engineering saying "if it ain't broke don't try to fix it" applies here. Please give us the option to return to the old format....post a big notice, don't make the user search everywhere for instructions about how to return to the old format.

Then use Cyberfox browser.

Cyberfox is basically a third-party build of Firefox 52.8.0 ESR. Once the Firefox 52 ESR is made EOL the third-party Cyberfox builds may be done for unless the author continue with builds based on current Release or current 60 ESR sources.

Also if you are going to suggest to use Firefox 52 then link to https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/ as the current 52 ESR (52.8.1esr) is listed there as the 52.0 Release itself is old. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/releases/

The legacy Firefox 52 ESR is based on the old Firefox 52.0 Release but with security and allowed stability fixes since. The 52.9.0esr out on June 26 will be the last major update and will be EOL on Sept 5 when 60.2.0esr is released.

My recommended version is 52.0. Download and install and then open up the browser, go to about:preferences#advanced and then click on 'update' and select the Never Check for Updates circle.

Very poor support advice! Firefox 52 is out-of-date and doesn't receive security updates as the Firefox 52 ESR version does. ESR is for Extended Support Release - a big difference!

And as far as Firefox 52 ESR goes, the last version is scheduled for release on June 26 and support for it ends on Sept 9 - no more security updates after that date (per the current schedule). https://wiki.mozilla.org/Release_Management/Calendar

So going back to an older version now isn't advisable. Plus going back could result in lost user data.

Yeah, I hate the new Firefox Quantum, but is usable and still better that the alternatives out there. Just getting used to something different and far less customization available via WebExtensions. More of a D-I-Y project by using userChrome.css code where possible. https://www.userchrome.org/

I think it's important to remember that this is a support forum. The point is to help bangkokbruce get his problem solved, so he can continue to the use the browser he wants to use without problems.

bangkokbruce, From your wording, I get the impression that you think you are directly contacting developers or Mozilla employees. You're re not. This is a community support forum. The people that answer questions here are users just like you, volunteering their time.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, go to the Help menu and select Submit Feedback.

That doesn't mean we can't help you get Firefox the way to want it now. Can you be specific about what issues you're having, so we can provide specific workarounds/fixes?

There is the other option of downloading 58.0 which has a little bit of changes but not to much so that it is Firefox Quantum. The support for that version should last a little bit longer because it is a later release.

Firefox 57 was the first version of Quantum. Support for each Release version of Firefox ends when the next new version is released.

ESR means Extended Support Release, intended for "organizations" but is used by some individual users, too. ESR receives security updates, but not major changes the program files. That is what is considered "support" for ESR. ESR is "supported" until the next ESR version is released (typically every 7 Release cycle versions) - plus two additional Release cycle versions. Firefox 60 ESR is the exception. It was pushed back one Release version from Firefox 59 as was originally scheduled.

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Release_Management/Calendar See Past branch dates and look in the ESR column on the right. Firefox 10, 17, 24, 31, 38, 45, 52, then 60 were also used for creating the ESR version.

56.0 should do the trick because it is not Firefox Quantum but the ESR date is longer than 52.0 .

Nonsense, you clearly don't know what you are talking about.

Please ignore ThePriusMan, I'm not sure if he is a troll or spammer, but I'll deal with him.

Reporter, can you please elaborate with what you do not like about the new Firefox design? It isn't going away, but we can help you customize it to your taste.
