Did the ability to override 'signatures.required' option get removed?
"Starting with Firefox version 48, the add-on signing requirement will be enforced with no override", reading some release notes after v48 seemed to indicate this was still an option?

hi, yes it's only possible to override the signing requirement in firefox developer edition & nightly versions. in release and beta versions this setting doesn't have an effect anymore.
