My Provider put my website-account on a new server and because of that I had to change my emailaccount as well. After I did, the orginal folders containing all my previous emails were gone. I tried to restore my old account, but my password was rejected and I couldn't get in. My Question is: Where can I find the folders with my Original email on my computer?? I know it's stored somewhere, but unitll now I haven't been able to find them. Please HELP!

Sorry, my answer was incomplete.

If you changed the existing account in Thunderbird to change to the new server settings, then the old e-mails were wiped out. No doubt Thunderbird has prompted since then to compact the folders, which will have ensured that the e-mails are gone for good.

If you created a new account in Thunderbird for the new server, and deleted the old account, the files for the old account are still on your computer, and the e-mail can be recovered.

If you did the latter, then:

1. Under "Local Folders", create a folder called "Recover" (right-click "Local Folders" and choose "New Folder"). Under the "Recover" folder, create a sub-folder called "Placeholder" (right-click "Recover" and choose "New Subfolder").

2. Find & open your Thunderbird Profile folder:

Select Help: Troubleshooting Information from the Thunderbird menu (either from the menu button , on the top right, or the normal menu at the top of the window.)

Under "Application Basics", beside "Profile Folder", click the "Show Profile" button.  This will open a window showing the contents of your Thunderbird Profile folder.

3. Quit Thunderbird, but keep that window open showing your Thunderbird Profile folder.

4. Look for the folder that holds your e-mail. It will be either under the "ImapMail" folder (if you were using IMAP), or it will be under the "Mail" folder (if you were using POP). The e-mail folder you are looking for will a name that includes the e-mail server name. If there is more than one with the same name, but with different numbers after the name, then you need to figure out which one contains the e-mail you want to recover. It will have an older file date than the one currently in use. Open that folder.

5. Select (Ctrl+A), all the entire contents of that folder then Copy (Ctrl+C), them.

6. Navigate under your profile folder to Mail, then Local Folders, then Recover.sbd. For example: C:\Users\**username**\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\Mail\Local Folders\Recover.sbd

7. Paste (Ctrl+V), the files and folders to this Recover.sbd folder.

8. To be thorough, delete all the index files so Thunderbird will re-create them. In the search box in Windows Explorer, type:

 filename: *.msf

Then select all the files (Ctrl-A), then delete them (Del).

9. Start Thunderbird.

10. Look under the "Recover" folder under "Local Folders". All the folders and e-mails from the old account will be there.

Your web & e-mail hosting provider should have transferred your e-mails to the new server. It appears that they did not. This is an issue you need to discuss with them. Sorry, Thunderbird has nothing to do with this.

Hi, I *think* I know what you are asking:

The mail is in the PROFILE folder. I have Windows 10 See articles below for specifics re: WIN7 and WIN8

On Windows 10: Windows Explorer -> Show all folders and files (Show hidden files) -> USERS -> <Your name> -> AppData (Application Data) -> Roaming* -> Thunderbird -> Profile Folder -> Mail Roaming* may be specific to windows 10)

Read these articles first though:

"Where does Thunderbird store my mail in Windows 7 and how can I change that to another location? | Thunderbird Support Forum | Mozilla Support" https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1039349

"Profiles - Where Thunderbird stores your messages and other user data" https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data?

I would not download any mail until you get your old mail copied
