I can't figure out whether my update is complete, what version am I running,, or what is the latest version

I updated as described on the download page., but there was no way I could tell if the update was successful

hi, please go to the firefox menu ≡ > help (?) > about firefox panel to see which version you're on and if there are any updates available.
