How to restore a session after a crash if the option is not available - Vista
I was searching onlin for a solution to my problem and came across this thread... https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1012716
...but I cannot seem to find the mentioned files. I am using a Windows Vista PC (since 2007) and this is the first time I've encountered this problem with Firefox.
In my case, I was using Firefox with multiple tabs and then it crashed. I restarted Firefox and everything came back up again. When I shut down my PC, I immediately proceeded to just shutting down the PC by clicking on the Windows Start > Shut Down. When I turned the PC on again the session restore option was not available unlike previous times where I always shut down my PC with the Firefox window & tabs still active. I went back to the link above because I was able to successfully restore a session following the tips on that thread on another PC (my laptop) running Windows 7.
Any help would be very useful.
Thank you!

If you want to start Firefox where you left off with tabs and Windows that were open before, there is a safe proper way to do so.
In Options (or Preferences for others) -> General -> Startup -> When Firefox starts: "Start my windows and tabs from last time"
Make sure you do not clear History.
Purposely crashing Firefox can lead to potential issues like corrupting stuff in the profile you are using with Firefox.
Make sure that you give Firefox enough time to close properly before shutting down the computer, especially if you use "Clear history when Firefox closes". Otherwise Firefox might not have created a sessionstore.js file.
