After refreshing firefox, bookmarks appear but don't work; also can't make new ones
this happened after message prompting me to refresh firefox appeared across screen bottom in black print on white,; when I did it, it went crazy and gave me a message that the mozilla site, among many others, couldn't be trusted. The next day the warning message went away & no longer kept me from accessing sites. but my bookmarks & help menus still don't work.

unplugged and plugged back in; somehow picked up malware"Advanced Mac Cleaner" which i had to trash, but everything else is back to normal, slow pace. don't respond to suggestion that appears at screen bottom to "refresh" firefox. that's what i did & it's not good: many problems resulted.
My guess is that "Advanced Mac Cleaner" was the true cause, not the Refresh.

You can consider to check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.
