Firefox slow, Flash crashing, have done refresh, still persists
Firefox is grinding to a halt. I've cleaned my cache a number of times, reinstalled Flash a bunch, as well as done a refresh now about 5 times and still Firefox slows down and now is freezing up more often. Should I do a full reinstall of Firefox and wipe it clean from my cpu? I'd like to keep my preferences and passwords and such, so I haven't investigated this solution. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks!

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
Yeah, the same problem shows up in the new profile. It's also happening across browsers and it's always occurring with a Flash crash. I've deleted and reinstalled Flash a number of times now and nothing seems to work.
You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
- check for updates for your graphics drive drivers
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration - disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
- disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

I have a Mac and never have had to update graphics drive drivers. I've actually disabled hardware acceleration a week or so ago. Not sure how to do the second one.
