Firefox was working fine, but not on some websites which use logins, I enter my credentials, but firefox brings me back to the login screen, no error message. I reset firefox, cleared cookies and history, no change. No addons. I created a new profile and tested (before setting up sync) and the site worked. I enabled firefox sync and the site doesn't login, just goes back to the login screen again. Removing sync doesn't change this.

Firefox is as annoying as IE without sync. Chrome works fine. it's definitely not related to the website as it happens with multiple and only once firefox sync is enabled.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
