So, I shut down Firefox and my computer. When I restarted and opened Firefox back up it didn't start as it should. I got the oops screen instead. But I also got a popup from Avast (one of those screens that stays on top) saying the Avast community does not like infoatoms. I reached around the annoyance and started Firefox so I could look around the internet and decide what to do. Usually the tab that I was last on is the tab in focus when I start back up. This time tab one was in focus. I had first reached out to Avast but they have been hacked, so adding up all that happened on this reboot has me worrier. I Decided to get rid of it. When I clicked on remove I got a message that I have to choose a new home page and search provider. My only choices are Yahoo and Microsoft Bing. I don't want to make those changes. But if I have to I want to know the way back. I could not find out how to do that in options. I seem to remember a drop down menu for the Home page but I don't see it now. Know, as I looked further into this it appears that the problem is most likely with IE. So here is the question. If after I remove infoatoms my home page and search provider in Firefox have changed how do I get them restored to where they are now. I'm not expecting them to change so this is just in case. By the way what is troubleshooter?

"I Decided to get rid of it." Get rid of what? Infoatoms or Avast?

Search Reset add-on will fix the Homepage setting and the Search settings. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/

Sorry, get rid of Infoatoms. The Avast community thinks it's problematic.

But the question was: If my "home page" and "search provider" in Firefox change after I remove infoatoms, how do I restore them. Foolishly, in twenty twenty hindsight, I should have just asked how to set my home page and default search provider. When Firefox didn't load as it should and Avast popped up at the same time I panicked. The Avast support site was hacked and is down currently so I couldn't get any help there. Since infoatoms does not appear to be installed in Firefox there may not be a problem anyway.

How do I uninstall InfoAtoms? It is uninstalled thru the Windows Control Panel.

The add-on I hyperlinked above is used to reset the default Firefox Homepage and the Search settings, among a few other things. You install that add-on, it does its' thing, and it's automatically removed.

Thanks for the help. I followed your instructions and found no infoatoms program listed. In light of the fact that the Avast support site has been hacked I'm wondering if this is a spoof. At any rate when they are back in the game I'll take the question up with them. In the mean time I will mark this as solved. Once again Thank You for your help, David
