I'm looking for a solution to open links in progressive web apps in full firefox: in a new page, with a usable address bar, and the link being one of the tabs in firefox mobile. I know you can tap the three dots and then "open in firefox" but i hate the two extra gestures every single time.

In Thunderbird, how can I stop text in the previous emails in a string turning blue?

I have looked everywhere in Settings where colour is mentioned and everything is set to black text on a white background. Nothing is set to blue.

I do not want to see blue text anywhere.

Please advise.

A couple nights ago I updated from 140.13.0esr to 140.14.1esr, then for haha's, I checked for updates again and it took the big 153.1.1esr 'Meadow' update, now it won't play the selected email notification sound that it has been playing for the last 20+ years. It will play the 'Default system sound for new email' or any other sound file in my Media folder, old ones or brand new ones I put in there, but it will not play the one that it has been playing for the past 20+ years. I delete it and add a new copy of it and it will not play that one .wav file, plays everything else, but not that one.

FF is sometimes slow or downright reluctant to start up, and when I look at it, it says it's having trouble restoring my previous tabs / sessions. But I never want to restore previous sessions, I want to start with a clean sheet. See my screenshot - this happens even with the box unticked.

What is going on? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hello!

I have the "Block AI Features" setting enabled, but I'm still getting the "Ask Gemini" option in the long-hold context menu for Firefox Mobile on Android.

Is there any way to remove this option? It's cluttering the context menu and I dont want to misclick it. Or otherwise, is this a known and tracked issue?

Hello!

It's great there is finally a way to change keyboard shortcuts. However, I cannot find a way to change the keyboard shortcuts for previous and next tabs. Ctrl+tab and ctrl+shift+tab are not very comfortable positions. I would much rather have it something like ctrl+alt+left or right.

Is this something I will be able to do soon? or maybe the setting is there and I am just being blind?

Thanks

In the Thunderbird Certificate Manager, where does TB store the reference to deleted smartcard certificates?

I have a smartcard with email signature and encryption S/MIME certificates. I recently updated the signature and encryption certificates on my card and was having issues getting TB to read the encryption certificate. Both the signature and the encryption certificates check out fine with the certificate issuer (IdentTrust), can be read by Windows, Edge, and Firefox Certificate Managers, and works fine for authentication to websites. I am wondering if I accidentally deleted the encryption certificate in the TB Certificate Manager, as the signature certificate (having same issue date and email address) is visible but the encryption certificate is not found. To see if I could restore access I have tried replacing existing profile files having dates prior to the new certificates for:

cert9.db
content-prefs.sqlite
key4.db
permissions.sqlite
pkcs11.txt
prefs.js
SiteSecurityServiceState.bin

This restored my settings for my previous (now expired) certificates but still does not allow me to view the encryption certificate in Certificate Manager. I also tried removing the logins.json and logins-backup.json files which had no effect on ability to view the encryption certificate, and tried adding the certificate ID .

I'm hoping someone could explain what the TB Certificate Manager does when when accessing and deleting a certificate from a smartcard (it can't electronically delete it without the middleware - in this case ActivClient, and the missing certificate still remains as other apps can still access the certificate in question). I surmise that the name must be stored somewhere, and hopefully by editing the appropriate preference setting I can restore access.

Firefox doesn't open correctly with Windows Virtual Desktops. I use Windows Virtual Desktops a lot. Every app I use, except Firefox, opens on the desktop that has the focus when I open them up. With Firefox, if the current desktop isn't the one that Firefox was on the last time I used it and closed it, it opens up an instance with a single tab on the current desktop and another instance on the other desktop it was on when closed last with the tabs open from the prior session there. This is very awkward. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enable Virtual Desktops on a Windows machine and create at least one additional one. 2. Switch to a second virtual desktop, open Firefox or move Firefox to that desktop. 3. Set Firefox to open tabs from the last session and open a few tabs to random sites. 4. Close Firefox. 5. Switch to the first virtual desktop. Open Firefox. Observe an instance on that desktop with one tab and another instance on the other desktop with the tabs from the prior session. Expected Result: Firefox should open on the virtual desktop that has the current focus like all other applications do. It is very awkward to close the unneeded instance on the current desktop, then open virtual desktop manager and move the originally desired instance to the originally desired desktop.

Hi, I've been using Thunderbird for years. It's been a great utility. However, today when I started it up, there was a random folder (UserFolder_27) created in the system folders. There was no right click option to delete it. Here are the remedial steps I took to remove it.

  • Exited Thunderbird, removed the Userfolder_27.msf file from directory, restarted. No change.
  • Right clicked the main account and Unsubscribed from UserFolder_27. Exited Thunderbird, removed the Userfolder_27.msf file from directory, restarted. No change.
  • In Account Settings>Copies&Folders>Message Archive the UserFolder_27 was checked (no idea why). Unchecked the main "Keep message archives in" box. Exited Thunderbird, removed the Userfolder_27.msf file from directory, restarted. No change.
  • Rechecked "Keep message archives in" and selected another personal folder. Exited Thunderbird, removed the Userfolder_27.msf file from directory, restarted. No change.

Somewhere in the troubleshooting steps, it created a second Spam folder.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have organized my Win 11 start menu into logical groupings to avoid a long irrational lists of programs requiring me to sort-through each time I want to open another app. I use Firefox frequently enough that it has a 'permanent' place on my taskbar so it is easy to open it and proceed expeditiously.

However, Mozilla has recently decided it will overrule my process by repeatedly adding 'Firefox' as another choice on my start menu -- I delete it each time, only to find they have added it again each time I reboot. I find this to be quite obnoxious and arrogant.

Perhaps I need to consider moving to another browser and uninstall Firefox once an for all....
