OOPS, please ignore the bit about ebay & amazon allowing me access slowly; that has changed slightly but I still cannot access other sites. What to do? Have no idea what other details to add...W7, Firefox Mozilla is default search, DSL modem seems to be alright. No cables, lines, whatever else they may be called are not detached. Hopefully this info will suit?

Please update to the Firefox 27 release: Help > About Firefox

You can find the full version of the current Firefox 27.0 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.

First I have to hope very much you will excuse me for not being able to reply to your message! I have been very ill AND not in access to my computer. Thank you for your advice regarding my checking to see which version of Firefox I am using. The version is 27.0.

Thanks again, Omnigusted.
