Can I sue a website that tricks you into clicking on a popup that you think comes from you guys, and it takes 4 hours to remove the popups?
On 7/6/2013 I received a popup window that looked like it was from Mozilla with your logo on the top left corner of the window and no url in the address field. In the window it said “you need to update your Java files” so I clicked on it and I started getting an unbelievable amount of popup advertising on every website I went to. And every time I clicked to go to the next page another popup would open trying to sale products you were looking at.. It took me over 4 hours to fix the problem. So how much would it cost you to fix a problem like this? Can someone sue the website that tricked you into clicking on a popup and loading 6, six deferent software programs and having you work for over 4 hrs to remove all that was loaded up on your computer ?
Thank you for your time in this matter, Mr. Richard Vellone

hello richard, if a website uses the firefox logo to trick users into downloading malware, you can report it at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/fraud-report/ so that mozilla can have a look at it & take further actions...
please also check, that there is no malicious activity going on on your system, since popups are often an indicator for that. go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.
Dear Philipp, Thank you for the reply!!! You my friend are on top of things.
That is exactly with I did for the 4 hrs it took me to complete the tasks. The funny thing is Norton 360 did NOT show any problems after full scan nor did Windows Defender, also after full scan. I found that to be quite disturbing. I did download after a few hours of trying other software, Adblock Plus and it did the trick, however, I also had the popup ad, "OFFERS4U", assholes. Adblock was unable to get rid of this popup. After more time I was able to get rid of OFFERS4U, the jerks.. Have a good one Philipp!
